ACT Medicare Local

The Challenge

ACT Medicare Local began life as the ACT Division of General Practice — an organisation focussed on supporting local doctors. Then the Commonwealth Government announced a national reform that created primary healthcare organisations bringing doctors together with other providers. The ACT Division of General Practice was one of the first to win funding for establishing one of these new organisations dedicated to the needs of local communities.

The Rural Doctors Association of Australia (RDAA) advocates for medical practitioners across the country. With such a decentralised membership, they need a website to connect with their members across vast distances, and provide a media platform for rapid responses.

Editorial control for online magazines


The challenge

Popular Science has covered every major technological breakthrough since 1872, from powered flight to the hunt for sub-atomic particles. The editors of its Australian edition wanted a better way to integrate American content with content from local writers, to create an online magazine with a distinct identity. Being relevant to Australian readers was essential to attracting visitors and building advertising revenue. But their previous website made this difficult. Simple tasks like editing articles took over four hours.
